Most people are all about visiting the typical western countries, France, Spain and The U.K. Poland isn’t anything like those countries. It’s actually better in some aspects. I’ve traveled to 9 countries last year, I’ve also visited 2 main polish cities, Krakow and Wroclaw. From my experience, Poland is one of the best I’ve been to.
But why?
Atmosphere
I was in Krakow for 1 week. Over my time of exploring the city center as I stayed close to it, I noticed something. There was always something going on. Whether it’s bands playing music, horse rides around the old town, or just people dressed up doing the craziest things. It was pretty awesome. Being in a big city where it just so lively and everyone is just having fun smiling and laughing. That matters. I was in Milan and although it was a great looking city, the vibes weren’t so great which was somewhat a letdown.
Shopping
I was also in Wroclaw for 4 days, let me tell you, there are shopping centers everywhere and they are huge. Which is great, maybe you want to go the cinema, maybe you want to go on a shopping spree, maybe you want to eat something. You can. And on top of that, it’s very cheap. I can recall going to Biedronka, a Polish shop where I got FIVE fresh croissants for 1.30 PLN which ended up being 31 cents when converted to euro. In western European countries like France or even Ireland, one croissant would be about 80 cents.
History
Krakow has a lot of history. Castles, museums, gothic style cathedrals, you name it. important Polish leaders are buried at Wawel castle. Rumour has it that a dragon used to live there.
Krakow is big in Jewish history. There’s an old Jewish district in the city called Kazimierz, there are many museums relating to war and Jewish history around it. Auschwitz is also nearby to visit. While I never got to go there it will be a place I shall visit next time I go to Poland.
Should you visit Poland?
If you’re tight budget wise and just want to get out of the country Poland is your best bet. Great vibes, cheap prices, and awesome history. Whether you want to go on a shopping spree or just bring your family along to a nice place where you can all just have fun. I had a great time there and I’m very confident you will too.
